A Word from the President:
As a Fifth Year Student in the Dual Degree program, I have seen the struggles and lack of support that the program experiences, both on student and administrative levels. But I have learned, through my involvement starting the Mentoring Program and in supporting community building events, that camaraderie is an undervalued asset amongst us, who, I emphasize, face the most difficult degree program at the school both academically and logistically. My goal this year is to continue to grow our community and provide better support for first and second year students still exploring their options. I hope to support our upperclassman through our alumni network and career panels. Through this engagement, I hope that people learn the value of knowing like-minded individuals like themselves in supporting their journey through the Dual Degree. Looking forward to the new year, I am excited to meet you all! Sincerely, ~Rhea-Donna Reyes HESS President 2019-2020 |
What is HESS?
|
The Hemmes Engineering Student Society is the social venture of NYU's Dual-Degree Engineering program. It takes its name from Joe Hemmes, an NYU transfer advisor and co-founder of the Dual-Degree program in the 1980's. After his passing in 2009, the Dual-Degree program took his name as the moniker of their student Society. Thus, HESS was born!

What do we do?We plan events for Dual-Degree students and their friends, with a focus on community-building, schedule management, and advice for careers. We plan to bring alumni, advisors, and other useful contacts to contribute to our knowledge base and help Dual-Degree get ever better!
|
Can I Join?Absolutely! HESS is always looking for new representatives of the engineering community; if you're a Dual-Degree student in CAS, we want to hear your voice and thoughts. Come to an event or get in touch with the Board!
